Monthly and Yearly Events

Road Clean-up: Every third Saturday of the month the Rotary Club of Volcano dons their reflective vests and heads out to Highway 11 to clean. This monthly service work makes driving up to the village all that much nicer!

Friends Feeding Friends: The last Thursday of the month we gather together with other Volunteers to cook, feed, and socialize with the people of Volcano. This is also a chance for those in need to take home groceries.

Flag Leasing Program: In support of our military and veterans, the Rotary offers flag leases to those in the Volcano area. Flags are put up in the morning and taken down in the evening on six different national holidays. More about our Flag Lease Program HERE.

Happy Dollars – Each week, at the end of our meeting, we collect Happy Dollars. Sometimes they go to a cause the weekly speaker supports, and sometimes it goes to our general fund for scholarships and local service projects. You can be sure those dollars are put to good use!

Volcano School of Arts and Sciences Beautification Day: VSAS, our local public charter school, needs all the help we can give them! And this day is a wonderful excuse to get out of the meeting room, plant some flowers, cut some ginger, and help with small repairs.

Annual Yart Sale: The first weekend of April, the Rotary Club of Volcano teams up with the Volcano Art Center for the biggest rummage sale in the Village! This year we also had hot Portuguese bean soup with plans to expand the offerings in years to come.

Easter Egg Hunt at KMC: What could be more fun than watching kids hunt for eggs? Perhaps filling and stuffing those eggs!

Rainforest Runs: Every year the Rotary offers lunch to all the runners and those cheering them on. This popular event is great fun for the entire family and should definitely go on your annual calendar.

Fourth of July Parade: Each year the Rotary offers lunch options at the Volcano Village Fourth of July Parade. If you love small town charm, this is the place for you! Our offerings vary each year, so check the calendar for more info.

Labor Day Celebration: In years past the Rotary of Volcano has sponsored Lobsters in the Forest, a lobster and shrimp feast! This year we are shaking it up a bit and trying something new. More details to come, but we promise you will not want to miss it!

Veteran’s Day at KMC: Each year the Rotary helps set up tents, chairs, and hand out programs and flags for the Kailua Military Camp’s Veteran’s Day celebration.

Rotary Gives Thanks – Annual Thanksgiving Food Baskets. Through club and private donations, we assemble about thirty food baskets so that those in need may have a better Thanksgiving dinner for the holiday and a little beyond.

School Children Dictionary Project – Every year the Rotary of Volcano donated dictionaries to local schools.

Volcano School or Arts and Sciences Book Program – Each year the Rotary receives a wish list from VSAS of books they would like to add to their library. Our goal is to fulfill their list. If you would like to help us in this effort, please read more on our Book Program page.

Hawaii Rotary Youth Scholarship – A $5,000 yearly scholarship presented to a student currently attending or scheduled to attend a 4-year collage. This scholarship is provided by the Rotary Youth Scholarship Fund.

The Mike Nelson Scholarship – A yearly $2,000 scholarship presented by the Rotary Club of Volcano. In 2017 our goal is to present this scholarship to a student attending or scheduled to attend a community college or technical school.
